Georgie Pruitt

About:

Georgie was born in Florence and has lived here most of her life. As a young child, she attended St. John's with her parents until All Saints' was established. Her great grandfather, George Stackley gave "seed" money to begin a new church on the west side of Florence. Her parents were among the founding families and  her father was the first Senior Warden. Georgie has taught Sunday School, been a part of the women's group, served on various committees, been on the vestry several times, and is currently the Senior Warden. She served on the Board of Directors for ASEDS as a teacher and parent. She is married to Joseph and has two adult children. 

Education:

Georgie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from The College of Charleston. She furthered her studies at Winthrop College and Francis Marion University, earning a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Eventually, she earned National Board Certification in Elementary Education. Along the way, she attended a class at the Citadel and several classes at Coker College to further her areas of certification. She was certified to teacher elementary students in L-8th grades and many areas of special education.

Career:

Georgie began her career in Lamar, SC by teaching K-2nd graders with mild learning disabilities. Then, she taught the physically handicapped students in grades K-6 at the "old" Royall Elementary School. Next was a move to Kershaw, SC where she taught 4th and 5th grade learning disabled students in reading and math classes. Upon her return to Florence, She taught 2nd grade at ASEDS for two years. Her next move was to McLaurin Elementary School where she taught a 2nd grade class. Then, she landed at Royall Elementary where she taught 4th grade, a special first grade class for several year, and finally 1st grade for the remainder of her career.
