Library Curriculum- 3rd Term
3K classes will begin to independently select books for personal enjoyment. Library lessons will supplement classroom curriculum. Interactive Read-A-Loud will include topics on New Year’s Celebrations around the world, winter, Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day and Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day. 5k students will begin to learn their Library numbers for book check out.
1st-3rd Grade Classes:
Students will begin an in-depth study of reference materials. Reference sources to be used are dictionary, encyclopedia, thesaurus, and almanac. Library lessons will incorporate themes of New Year’s celebrations around the world, winter, Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, and famous historical figures during this time.
4th-6th Grade Classes:
Sixth grade students will present Google Slides of Career Projects.
All classes will begin a study of Genres in Literature. Genres of Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Science Fiction, and Realistic Fiction will be discussed in class. Students will work in groups determining the main characteristics of each. Each group will select a genre to present a book commercial after completion of the study.
